Workshop, saves, and version-mismatch FAQ

Install mods without confusing separate save progress, then diagnose multiplayer conflicts in the right order.

v0.107.1 main · v0.108.0 beta notes · 2026-07-13
1

Does Workshop work on the main branch?

  • v0.107.1 added official Steam Workshop support. Steam handles discovery and download across devices.
  • A mod can still be incompatible with the current branch even when Steam downloads it successfully.
2

Why does progress look missing?

  • Modded and unmodded saves are intentionally stored separately to protect the original save.
  • v0.108.0 copies the unmodded save into the modded area on first launch and explains the process, but later progress remains separate.
  • Do not move or overwrite save files until branch, mod mode, Steam Cloud state, and backup location are confirmed.
3

Why does modded multiplayer report a mismatch?

  • Match the game branch and version, then compare every enabled gameplay-affecting mod and its version.
  • Cosmetic mods may be excluded from gameplay identity, but test without them if the mismatch persists.
  • v0.108.0 improves sorting and error details, but identical gameplay mod sets are still the recommended baseline.
4

Safe troubleshooting ladder

  • Back up saves, disable all mods, and confirm the base game launches.
  • Enable one dependency group at a time and reproduce on the same branch.
  • For multiplayer, have every player follow the same order; a local-only success does not prove the lobby is compatible.
